SPD Investigates Shooting at Oglethorpe Mall

SAVANNAH – The Savannah Police Department is investigating a July 2 shooting at the Oglethorpe Mall that left two male adults and one male juvenile with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Officers arrived on the scene at around 5:41 p.m. based on reports of a shooting and discovered three gunshot victims. Chatham County EMS transported the victims to Memorial Health University Medical Center for further treatment. Three additional individuals were transported by EMS to Memorial for non-gunshot-related medical complications. SPD evacuated the mall, which was then cleared by the SPD SWAT team before returning the mall to management.

“Savannah Police responded quickly to this event, and I am proud of our officers’ coordinated response,” said Lenny B. Gunther, Savannah Chief of Police. “I also want to thank the agencies that responded to this incident. To the citizens of Savannah, know that we will work tirelessly to keep our city safe and will be relentless in bringing everyone involved to justice.”

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers, 912-234-2020, or submit an anonymous tip through the SPD mobile app.
