Bridge DA Gap is a 501c3 non-profit organization that utilizes music to enhance the social-emotional development of youth in the areas of character building principles, life skills and self-regulation. Bridge DA Gap infuses Hip Hop music with the latest advances in technology to present youth in grades 6 through 12 with a comprehensive social-emotional development curriculum.

Our mission is to deliver one-on-one content to improve the mental, social, emotional, academic, economic, and financial conditions of persons and their respective communities by using our various curricula across genres and platforms which foster improved emotional stability, improved academic performance, and improved independent living and self-sufficiency through music, workshops, online web-based portals, and mobile devices

Our Goals:  To provide programs and services to teach youth how to:
    • Create and achieve goals
    • Demonstrate conflict resolution skills
    • Develop and sustain positive relationships
    • Recognize limitless opportunities
    • Self-regulate their emotions
    • Understand and demonstrate responsible decision-making

Founded in 2008 by Grammy Nominated Super Producer, Kevin “Khao“ Cates.

Kevin “Khao” Cates is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and music producer. Khao, a native of Montgomery, Alabama, is also the same multi-platinum, Grammy nominated producer, who lives by the motto, “Don’t just be successful, be significant!”
With over 30 million combined records sold, Khao has revolutionized the sound of Hip-Hop music by producing sounds and melodies that cross various genres of music.
He has also positioned himself as a major player in the music industry, while maintaining full control of his production and publishing.

In 2008 Khao took time off from music to create Bridge DA Gap. Bridge DA Gap is a 501c3 non-profit organization that combines hip hop music, education and mentoring to reach students and teach life skills applicable in today’s socially challenged environment. Bridge DA Gap has been implemented in schools across the United States as well as in the Bahamas

    How does it work?

High school students are faced with a number of challenges including problems at home, the increased likelihood of never obtaining a high school diploma, gang violence, bullying, drug abuse, peer pressure and low self-esteem. Although techniques for intervention may have been effective in the past, changes in our economy, advanced technology and the quality and nature of relationships and social exchanges with others presents a drastic difference in what some are teaching and what students feel is important in their lives

    How many courses are included?

The Bridge DA Gap curriculum teaches character building traits through music using 12 key social constructs:

    1. Anger Management
    2. Perception
    3. Excuses
    4. Patience
    5. Heartbreak
    6. The Company You Keep
    7. Drug Abuse
    8. Self-Respect
    9. Self-Love
    10. Self-Determination
    11. HIV Prevention
    12. Death
