Trick Daddy and Trina are bringing Miami vibes to Grand Theft Auto VI, as the rap legends have been unveiled as hosts of one of the forthcoming title’s in-game radio stations.
On Thursday (Oct. 8), Rockstar Games announced that Trick Daddy and Trina will share hosting duties on Dirty South Classics, a radio station dedicated to timeless songs in southern hip-hop, including the duo’s own hits. According to Trick Daddy and Trina, the pairing is a perfect fit, as GTA VI is set in Vice City, Leonida – Rockstar Games’ fictional adaptation of their hometown, Miami, Florida.
“Dirty South Classics — that’s us,” Trick tells VIBE. “That’s the music, the culture, and the era we come from. Me and Trina been representing Miami and the South from day one, so being able to bring that same energy to Grand Theft Auto just makes sense. We still here, we still working, and we still making history.”
Regarded as two of the most successful and provocative hip-hop artists to emerge from the Sunshine State, Trick Daddy and The Diamond Princess have embodied the music and lifestyle that Grand Theft Auto has incorporated into its gameplay and user experience. Debuting within years of GTA 1, the “Take It to da House” collaborators see their inclusion in the GTA universe as a chance to spread that influence even further.
“Being part of Dirty South Classics feels full-circle,” Trina tells VIBE. “Miami and the South have always been at the heart of who I am as an artist, so for Trick and me to bring our voices, our chemistry, and our radio energy into Grand Theft Auto is special. We’ve lived this culture, we helped shape it, and now people around the world get to experience some of that history and energy with us.”
In addition to Dirty South Classics, GTA VI radio includes stations hosted by Bad Bunny and RaiNao (Cocoteo FM), Burna Boy and Palms Trax (AfroBank FM), Kerry King and Tom Araya of Slayer (Chamber 106.6), Robyn and model Alex Consani (Flash FM), and Morgan Wallen, Lana Del Rey, and Jeremy Dufrene (Back Country Radio).
Grand Theft Auto VI will be released by Rockstar Games on November 19, accompanied by Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, a compilation project with thirty-four songs featuring Travis Scott, Yung Lean, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro, Keith Richards, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, PinkPantheress, Fred again.., & Etienne de Crécy, and more.
Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album pre-orders are currently available, and the album will launch with multiple vinyl and CD offerings.
