  • Bokeem Woodbine joins as Hustle Mike, bringing intensity and charisma to the barbershop ensemble.
  • Bresha Webb will play Genevieve, adding comedic storytelling and charm to the cast.
  • Series is written and exec produced by Marshall Todd with Max Searle as co-showrunner and executive producer.

Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming Barbershop TV series is rounding out its recurring cast with a powerhouse lineup. Bokeem Woodbine, Bresha Webb, Langston Kerman, and Tiana Okoye have officially joined the ensemble, set to star opposite Jermaine Fowler, who leads the series as Travis “Trav” Porter.

Trav is a young barber determined to follow in the footsteps of his legendary grandfather, a celebrated figure at Chicago’s iconic Calvin’s Barbershop. Though the faces behind the chairs may be new, the energy in the shop remains the same—spirited debates, lively customers, sharp fades, and the sense of community that makes Calvin’s more than just a place for haircuts.

Character Lineup and Roles

Woodbine steps into the role of Hustle Mike, adding his signature intensity and charisma to the barbershop world. Webb will portray Genevieve, bringing her comedic storytelling and charm to the series. Kerman joins as Jeremy, and Okoye takes on the role of Naimah-Jade, rounding out the core additions to the bustling shop environment.

Behind the Scenes: A Strong Creative Team

The Barbershop TV adaptation is rooted in the legacy of the original MGM film franchise. The series is written and executive produced by Marshall Todd, who penned the screenplay for the first Barbershop film. Max Searle serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Todd.

The project is bolstered by an impressive team of producers. Kevin Hart, through Hartbeat, executive produces with Bryan Smiley and Mike Stein. Cameron Burnett and Autumn Bailey-Ford executive produce on behalf of Prominent Productions. Additional executive producers include George L. Tillman and Robert Teitel of State Street Pictures, along with Bradley Gardner of Busy B Entertainment. Tiffany Brown joins as co-executive producer for Hartbeat. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.

Prime Video’s Vision for the Franchise

Vernon Sanders, global head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed excitement about bringing Calvin’s Barbershop to a new generation of viewers. “We are thrilled to announce a new series based on the hilarious and innovative world of Barbershop for our global Prime Video customers,” he said. “The television adaptation of this iconic film franchise is in excellent hands with co-showrunners Max Searle and Marshall Todd.”

A Look at the Stars Joining the Shop

Woodbine brings decades of acclaimed work to the role, with standout performances in Jason’s Lyric, Halo, Queen & Slim, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Life, Dead Presidents, Old Dads, Spenser Confidential, and more.

Webb continues her rising momentum with credits including Run the World, A Fall from Grace, Acrimony, Sextuplets, Meet the Blacks, and her fan-favorite role as Kiara in Lifetime’s Merry Liddle Christmas franchise.

What’s Ahead for the Series

With a strengthened cast, a seasoned creative team, and the beloved legacy of the Barbershop universe, excitement is building for what’s ahead. The new Prime Video series promises humor, heart, and the vibrant community spirit that has defined the franchise for more than two decades.
