Savannah Chatham County Public School System (SCCPS) Update:

    Key takeaways
    • Georgia Senate Bill 150: Eligible retirees may return to teaching while continuing to receive retirement benefits.
    • SCCPSS seeks retired educators for high-need areas: Special Education, Mathematics, Science, CTAE, English Language Arts.
    • Eligibility: 30 years of creditable service with the Teachers Retirement System (TRS), at least 12 months separation, and required certification.
    • Return to classrooms to provide experienced instruction, mentor colleagues, and continue your legacy of supporting students and strengthening schools.
    • Interested retirees should explore openings and submit an application online through the SCCPSS website today.

You dedicated your career to educating students, building relationships, and making a lasting difference in the lives of children and families. Your years in education mattered then, and they still matter now.

Thanks to Georgia Senate Bill 150, eligible retired educators now have the opportunity to return to the classroom while continuing to receive retirement benefits.

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) is seeking experienced retired educators to help fill critical staffing needs in several high-demand certification areas.

    Current High-Need Areas

    • Special Education
    • Mathematics
    • Science
    • Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE)
    • English Language Arts (with Dyslexia or Reading Endorsement)

    Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible under Senate Bill 150, retired educators must:

    • Have 30 years of creditable service with the Teachers Retirement System (TRS)
    • Have been separated from teaching for at least 12 months
    • Meet all applicable certification requirements

    Continue Making a Difference

Retired educators bring invaluable experience, instructional expertise, and leadership to schools and classrooms. Your ability to inspire students, support colleagues, and create meaningful learning experiences continues to make an impact.

Whether you miss the classroom, the relationships, or the opportunity to help students succeed, SCCPSS would be honored to welcome you back.

Retired From Work. Not From Purpose.

    Together We Can:

    • Support students
    • Strengthen schools
    • Continue your legacy
