SAVANNAH – The City of Savannah is alerting residents to a recent scam involving fraudulent text messages claiming to be from the court system regarding unpaid traffic citations.
The City has received multiple reports from members of the public who have received text messages requesting payment for alleged traffic violations. These messages direct recipients to submit payment through an external website.
This is a scam.
The City of Savannah Recorder’s Court does not send text messages requesting payment for traffic citations, nor does it solicit payments through unofficial websites.
Residents are urged to take the following precautions:
- Do not click on any links or provide personal or financial information in response to these messages.
- Do not submit payment through any website provided in unsolicited texts.
- Verify any citation or court-related matter directly through official City of Savannah channels.
