City of Savannah’s Bee City Initiative to Host Pollinator Palooza Spring Festival

SAVANNAH — Bee City Savannah, an initiative of the City of Savannah, will host the Pollinator Palooza Spring Festival on Saturday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Forsyth Park in partnership with the Forsyth Farmers Market.

The free, family-friendly event will celebrate bees, butterflies, and other pollinators while highlighting their critical role in supporting local ecosystems and food systems. Residents and visitors are invited to spend the morning learning about pollinator conservation, connecting with local organizations, and participating in hands-on activities for all ages.

Festival activities will include Pilates in the Park, a nature-inspired wellness session; a kite-building and flying station featuring pollinator-themed designs; a bee hotel building workshop for native solitary bees; painting pots for pollinators paired with planting education; a Pollinator Passport experience where participants can explore educational stations and collect stamps for a prize; and educational resource tents hosted by conservation partners.

Community partners supporting the festival include the City of Savannah, Foster Beelief, BEEnevolent, Savannah Bee Company, Forsyth Farmers Market, Georgia Department of Agriculture, Coastal WildScapes, Keevy’s Beevies, University of Georgia Master Gardeners, and Neighborhood Nectar.

“Pollinator Palooza is about celebrating the small creatures that make a big impact,” said Sade Shofidiya, Chair of Bee City Savannah and CEO of BEEnevolent. “Pollinators support nearly one in three bites of food we eat, and this festival is an opportunity for families to learn how simple actions — like planting native flowers or creating habitat — can make a meaningful difference.”

“Creating more bee champions has always been at the heart of Savannah Bee Company’s mission,” said Ted Dennard, Vice Chair of Bee City Savannah and founder of Savannah Bee Company. “When people experience pollinators up close and learn how they support our food systems and ecosystems, they often leave inspired to become lifelong advocates.”

The festival is free and open to the public. Workshop space will be limited, and early arrival is encouraged.
