    Warming Center Opened After Cold Weather Advisory Issued for Savannah/Chatham County This Evening

    Savannah – A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for Savannah and Chatham County. Dangerously cold temperatures will move into our area Sunday evening and continue through Monday morning. Temperatures will drop into the low 30s, with wind chill temperatures dropping below 20 degrees.

    Chatham County, the City of Savannah, and community partners are working together to open a warming center at the Greenbriar Children’s Center for those without heat or housing.

    50 cots will be available at the Greenbriar Children’s Center gymnasium, located at 3709 Hopkins Street, from Sunday at 7 p.m. and close at 7 a.m. the following morning. Pets, under the owner’s control, are welcome.

    Shelter Information: Greenbriar Children’s Center gymnasium – 3709 Hopkins Street.

    • 7 p.m. Sunday, February 22nd – 7 a.m. Monday, February 23rd
    • Pets allowed
    • On-site security provided

    Media will now be allowed inside the warming center once it is in use.
