    ATLANTA, Ga.- Following a successful year in the classroom, 66 Savannah State University student-athletes have earned a spot on the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team for the 2025-26 year, the conference announced.

    Of the 67 student-athletes named to the SIAC All-Academic Team, three were named to the SIAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team. 

    To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 grade point average and to be eligible for the Commissioner’s All-Academic Team,a student-athlete must have at least a 3.4 grade point average.

    Representing Savannah State on the SIAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team were Sunzahra Liburd Banks, Madison Starling-Martin and Seth Stargell.

    Sunzahra Liburd Banks, a member of the Lady Tigers tennis team, had a 3.977 grade point average while completing requirements in the SSU Master of Public Administration program.

    Madison Starling-Martin, a member of the SSU softball team, had a 4.00 grade point average while majoring in biology.

    Seth Stargell also had a 4.00 grade point average. He is a member of the Tigers baseball team and is a middle grades education major.

    Football and baseball both had 13 members of their respective teams earn all academic honors while volleyball had eight and men’s indoor track & field had seven. Men’s outdoor track& field and softball had seven each, men’s basketball had four, women’s basketball had three and tennis had two. Women’s indoor and women’s outdoor track & field, men’s cross country and men’s golf had one each.

    The overall grade point average for the SSU men’s student-athletes was 2.930 while the women’s overall grade point average was 3.104. The combined grade point average for all Savannah State student-athletes who compete in SIAC sports was 3.017.
