Chatham Area Transit (CAT) Update: 1/30/2026 – Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) will suspend all operations beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, as a safety precaution due to projected dangerous winter weather in the service area. Service for Sunday, February 1, will be determined based on road conditions.Affected services include Fixed-Route, CAT Mobility Paratransit, Savannah Belles Ferry, the DOT Shuttle, and the Call Center/Ticket Window.CAT Mobility Paratransit riders will receive a phone call regarding their scheduled trips for Saturday and Sunday. Savannah Chatham County Public School System (SCCPS) Update: SCCPSS staff have been monitoring the forecast for this weekend in consultation with the National Weather Service.  At this time, the forecast calls for precipitation on Saturday that is expected to clear out by Sunday morning.  While temperatures will be extremely cold, black ice is not expected to be a widespread roadway hazard on Monday. SSU received a $4,000 grant to create a Clean Energy Policy Simulation Lab.
