Savannah State Baseball competing in the conference tournament.
The Savannah State baseball team is preparing for the 2026 season with a highly competitive schedule and facing higher expectations and a clear goal of competing for a championship win.
After months of fall practicing, conditioning and building team chemistry, the Tigers are now full steam ahead with preparing for their upcoming three-game series against the University of Fort Lauderdale.Â
Infielder Kj Clarington said, “I am very confident in me and my squad to have a great season and get over the hump to win a conference championship and regional. We have been putting in the work, blood, sweat and tears to prepare for this upcoming season, and the coaching staff has put us in a great position to succeed and accomplish our goals.â€
The Tigers have fallen short three years in a row, losing in the championship game in the conference tournament. Returning this season with a veteran roster and talented young players should get the Tigers over that hump.
Pitching Coach Enrico Peele said, “I’m excited, we added some new pieces to the puzzle that were needed to become the team we know we can be.â€
With it being Head Coach Tino Burgos first year with the Tigers, replacing former Head Coach Carlton Hardy, they were still able to finish with a record of 32-14 (24-9 in conference). Tino Burgos hopes to get over the hump that has held them back all these years.Â
The Tigers come into every season with a chip on their shoulder and show every season why they are a top three team in the conference.
Outfielder Chandler Hicks said, “I am excited to compete for a championship, we have a good mix of young players and veterans.â€
With the opening series approaching, the Tigers are ready to turn preparation into performance and chase the championship goals they have worked relentlessly to achieve.
Head Coach Tino Burgos said, “I’ll say this to you and to anybody else: Why not us?â€
