City of Savannah Hosts 100 Days of Summer Kickoff Event

SAVANNAH – The City of Savannah, in collaboration with E-93 Radio, will kick off 100 Days of Summer programming on May 22 at Daffin Park. Festivities begin with a free summer pool party at 11:00am featuring music by E-93FM radio DJ’s, food, drinks, games and giveaways.

100 Days of Summer, an ongoing initiative that offers positive and engaging programs providing meaningful alternatives during the summer months for local youth, returns this year with a variety of activities. Hosted by the City of Savannah’s Community Services, Savannah Police Department, and Savannah Fire Department, 100 Days of Summer provides camps, family events, swimming programs and more.

Under Community Services, available programs focus on summer youth employment and violence intervention through the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE), summer visual and performing arts camps with Cultural Resources, enrichment camps with Human Services, as well as traditional day camps and summer sports leagues through Recreation & Leisure.

Savannah Fire will host the annual Camp Hero June 25. This free, all-boys camp is designed to introduce participants to careers in fire service. Fire Station 16 Open House is slated for July 25, and will include a pancake breakfast, family fun, and backpack give aways for children. In addition to regularly monthly blood pressure checks at the P.A.R.C. Golden Age Center, an ice cream social will be held on June 4.

Savannah Police will host several activities in June, including National Gun Violence Awareness Day events and a Kids Summer Camp organized by the Savannah Impact Program (SIP), which is free and open to children ages 8 to 14. In July, SIP will host the Beyond the Badge Police Camp, which introduces interested young men and women ages 14 to 21 to careers in law enforcement. The annual SPD Back-2-School Bash returns August 1, providing local students with school supplies for the new year.
