ORLANDO, Fla.- Savannah State opened the 2026 regular season by participating in the SIAC Cluster on Friday at Sanlando Tennis Park.

In a battle of Lady Tigers, Savannah State outlasted Benedict 4-3 but lost to Spring Hill 7-0.

Against Benedict, the doubles team of Madeleine Anne Nolan and Jaeda Cooper won their doubles match 6-1 while Nyla Warner and Sunzahra Banks captured their match 6-1. Katelynn Welch and Amaia Connor won their match by default.

Sunzahra Banks won her singles match (6-0,6-0) while Katelynn Welch, Amaia Connor and Simone Reese won their matches by default. Nyla Warner lost her match (6-1,6-3), Madeleine Anne Nolan lost her match (7-5,6-4) and Jaeda Cooper fell in her match (7-5,6-3).

Savannah State could not pull out any wins against Spring Hill.

The duo of Nolan/Cooper lost their match (6-4), Warner/Welch fell (6-3) and Banks/Conner lost (6-1). In singles, Nolan (6-2,6-0), Warner (6-0,6-0), Cooper (6-0,6-3), Banks (6-1,7-5), Welch (6-0,6-0) and Connor (6-1,6-0) all lost their matches.

On Tuesday, SSU will begin Day #2 action at the SIAC Crossover as they will take on take on Tuskegee at 9 a.m. and Albany State at 4:30 p.m.
