Glow & Grow: Black Beauty, Haircare, and Skincare Tips

I want your hair to grow too.

But let’s be real — when it comes to “miracle” hair growth oils, we have to be honest about what they can and can’t do.

Too many of us have been sold the dream that there’s one magic product that will make our hair grow inches overnight.

Some people even believe that if they’re bald today, they can just apply one drop of oil and wake up tomorrow with a full head of hair. But sis… it doesn’t work like that.

Healthy, growing hair is not an overnight fix. It’s a process that takes education, consistency, and most of all, patience.

    💛 A Quick Note

This post contains affiliate links. I’m a Cécred Pro Affiliate, which means when you shop through my links or use my code VOICEOFHAIR at Cécred.com, I may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. But you will get $10 Off your order of $50+ and FREE shipping!

I only recommend products I truly use and believe in because my goal is to help you make confident, informed haircare choices.

    1) Not all oils are created equal.

Some oils are created to grow your hair instantly even if the ingredients can cause cancer.

Other oils are created to stimulate hair growth in a healthy manner.

But you have to know that growing your hair requires patience, persistence, and the word everyone hates to hear: time.

But here’s the key:  you want an oil that can penetrate your hair, get into your hair shaft, and moisturize your scalp and hair from the inside out. The oils that can penetrate the hair shaft are coconut oil, olive oil, and avocado oils, to name a few.

However, all penetration is not created equally. In other words, some of these oils penetrate the hair shaft much deeper than others.

For example, some oils that penetrate the hair more deeply include jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, castor oil, argan oil, peppermint oil and sweet almond oil seal in moisture. These oils also coat the hair shaft. As a result, these oils are great for adding luster and smoothness to your hair.

    2) Hair growth is the result of blood flow to your hair follicle, not oil.

Hair growth begins inside the follicle — and that means you need healthy circulation to feed your roots.

While oils don’t create new follicles, the ingredients in them can help stimulate them when used with scalp massage.

Massage your scalp for 3–5 minutes a few times a week. It’s relaxing, increases blood flow, and helps your serums or oils absorb better.

If you’re focusing on scalp health, the Cécred Restoring Hair & Edge Drops are perfect for this. It’s a targeted water based serum, not an oil — designed to nourish your scalp, strengthen your edges, and support a healthy environment for growth.

💡 Try massaging a few drops into your scalp before bed to stimulate circulation and reduce dryness.

Is your hair thinning? Have you tried to regrow it and nothing has worked? You may be missing these key ingredients to grow your hair longer and stronger, without any drugs.

    3) Growing your hair is not magical and based on something you use one time.

All good things take time to grow… including your hair.

On average, hair grows about ½ inch per month — that’s around 6 inches a year if your routine is consistent.

It may feel slow, but remember: growth starts beneath the surface. You might not see progress immediately, but your consistency is paying off.

Think of it like planting seeds — the growth starts underground before you see results above the surface.

Patience is the part nobody wants to hear, but it’s the one thing that changes everything.

    4) Hair growth oils are not a substitute for medical and dermatological attention.

Simply put, if you have a medical condition that has an impact on the health and growth of your hair, it is important to seek the advice of a medical expert to understand your treatment options.

While there are some illnesses and medication that can lead to hair loss, medical professionals may have alternatives for you to try.  If a hair growth oil is all natural (no added chemicals) then it it should be safe to use along with any medicine you may be taking.  However, always be sure to check with your doctor first.

    5) Hair growth oil is not a substitute, it’s a supplement.

Healthy hair growth is the result of a full routine — clean scalp, consistent moisture, proper nutrition, and gentle handling.

Hair oils and serums can absolutely support that process by nourishing your scalp and sealing in hydration, but they should complement your existing regimen — not replace it.

That’s why I recommend the Cécred Foundation Collection for your wash-day base, paired with:

    Final Thoughts 💭

I know the struggle of wanting longer, stronger, healthier hair — and feeling like nothing works.

But remember: it’s not about chasing a miracle product. It’s about building a healthy, consistent routine that supports your hair from root to tip.

Be patient with your process. Stay consistent. And most of all — take time to love on your hair and your scalp.

Because when you do, the growth will come. 🌱✨
