    City Encourages Public Presence, Participation for MLK Celebration Corridor Event

    The City of Savannah invites the public to attend a special gathering highlighting the Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard Celebration Corridor Initiative. The event, which will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 6:00pm, at the historic Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum, marks the significance of Savannah’s MLK corridor through celebration and information.

    Community members, stakeholders, and City leaders will gather to celebrate the significance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard Corridor and its lasting impact on Savannah’s history, culture, and future. Attendees will hear key findings and recommendations from the City-appointed initiative focused on enhancing the space. The effort is guided by a shared vision that any corridor bearing Dr. King’s name should reflect the values of his legacy by being welcoming, safe, vibrant, and reflective of the surrounding community. Through this initiative, the City seeks to strengthen area the as a place that honors Savannah’s rich history while supporting neighborhood vitality, cultural expression, and economic opportunity.
