City of Savannah Issues Extreme Heat Advisory
SAVANNAH – In accordance with the National Weather Service, City of Savannah Emergency Preparedness has issued an extreme heat advisory for Savannah from 11:00am – 6:00pm, today, Sunday, June 14, 2026.
What’s Happening:
- Temperatures will reach the upper 90s with heat indices of 105 to 110 expected.
- Coastal southeast Georgia and coastal South Carolina are impacted areas.
- Extreme heat and high humidity may cause heat-related illnesses.
What to Do:
To reduce risk during outdoor work/activities, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency. Call 911!
Drink plenty of fluids, refrain from direct exposure to the sun, and tend to relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
